Come hear about Beverly's downtown transformation and the Downtown 2020 initiative over lunch at the Beverly Council on Aging, 90 Colon St., Beverly, at noon. Featured speakers include Mayor Bill Scanlon; Gin Wallace, executive director of Beverly Main Streets; and Stephen Immerman, president of Montserrat College of Art. Later on, the Danvers Garden Club presents a demonstration of award-winning floral designs by Steve Janavicus, one of the top FTD florists in the country, at the Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. Several vendors will also be present. Doors and boutique area open at 6:30 p.m., while the floral demonstration begins at 7:30 p.m. Janavicus’ arrangements will be raffled off at the end of the evening. In Peabody at 7 p.m., enjoy a free multimedia theatrical presentation featuring Mike Lowe as President John F. Kennedy in "The JFK Experience" at the Peabody Institute Library South Branch, 78 Lynn St. Lowe will present, in character and by memory, some of JFK’s most famous speeches along with a corresponding slideshow. Each speech will be preceded by a talk describing the setting, reason and necessity of the speech. A question-and-answer session with Lowe (in character) will follow.
