Beverly resident James Phoenix, author of the new novel “Frame Up,” will read from and sign copies of his book tonight at 7 at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex St. The novel features a streetwise Boston detective named Fenway Burke. Tune in to WitchPitch?'s concert at 7:30 p.m. for a preview of the Salem High School a cappella group's 12-minute competition, which they'll perform on Saturday at the International Championship for High School A Cappella New England semifinals. The group is also celebrating its recent selection into the Varsity Vocals “Best of High School A Cappella” compilation album, which will be on sale for $10 at the event.
