North Shore religion news in brief

Jewish teens who are currently sophomores or juniors in high school and reside in Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation’s service area are invited to attend one of the following informational meetings for the 2014 Robert I. Lappin Youth to Israel Adventure (Y2I): Monday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m., JCC, 4 Community Road, Marblehead; Thursday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m., Temple Beth Shalom, 489 Lowell St., Peabody; Sunday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m., Temple B’nai Abraham, 200 E. Lothrop St., Beverly; Wednesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., JCC, Marblehead; and Sunday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m., Temple Beth Shalom, Peabody. Interested teens and parents will hear from Y2I 2013 alumni and from Deborah Coltin, the trip organizer and supervisor. Y2I 2014 includes the fully subsidized 12-day adventure to Israel in July 2014, in addition to educational programs for teens and parents, and leadership training opportunities for teens. The Women’s Council of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary will host its fall program and luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. on the South Hamilton campus. Dr. Xiyi Yao will be the guest speaker. The cost for the program and luncheon is $12.75 per person. Reservations can be made with Erica at 978-646-4027 or EricaG@gcts.edu. The deadline for reservations is Monday, Sept. 16.

Registrations for Maple Street Congregational Church’s Faith Walkers Church School programs will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 9:15 a.m. in the church social hall at 90 Maple St. in Danvers. A continental breakfast will be served. Sign-up sheets for the various youth and adult programs will be available before and after the 10 a.m. worship service. “Discipleship” is the theme this year.
