Name: Peter Hallett
Description: “I was asked by a friend in Beverly to take some photos of her prized pink hydrangea. While I was doing close-ups, a friendly dragonfly insisted that it be in the photo. The unusual dark pink background helps augment the texture of the wings.
“I’m happiest when I am taking photographs of just about anything.”
Camera info: Nikon D200, 18-200 zoom lens most likely set mid-range, auto mode 200 ISO
PHOTO STAFF CRITIQUE
The photographer isolated the dragonfly with tight focusing and knocked the background out of focus. Various large, light and dark bands of color in the background enhance the photo. Helping the overall nice composition is the angled plant stem. Photographing the dragonfly with its wings turned down is a nice twist to the usual dragonfly photo.
