North Shore religion news in brief

The Lappin Foundation will honor several community leaders and welcome home teens who traveled to Israel at the annual Youth to Israel Adventure Welcome Home Reunion on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m., at Temple B’nai Abraham in Beverly. Harold and Zelda Kaplan of Beverly will receive the 2013 Youth to Israel Adventure Award. Marvin Wilson, a professor of biblical studies at Gordon College, will be presented with the Lappin Foundation’s Friend of Israel Award. The program will also feature reflections by teens who will have returned from their trip to Israel, as well as a special donor recognition. Free and open to all. Children ages 4 through grade six are invited to participate in SonWest Roundup Vacation Bible School, Aug. 5 through 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4 Coolidge Road, Peabody. True Gospel Baptist Church will host the IncrediWorld Amazement Park Vacation Bible School from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, through Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 61 Bridge St. in Salem. The program includes songs, crafts, games and goodies. A Youth Rally Kick-Off service will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m., followed by a pizza fellowship. Holy Trinity United Methodist Church will host a Vacation Bible School on Monday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. The program presents Gospel Light’s SonWorld Adventure Park for children in preschool through grade eight. Activities include stories, games, crafts, snacks, skits, and riding a virtual roller coaster. Children will learn songs and get a free CD. VBS is free and open to the community.
