North Shore religion news in brief

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will serve a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at 4 Ocean St., Beverly. The dinner will be prepared and served by members of the church, along with volunteers from the community. Everyone is welcome to attend, especially those who might otherwise be alone on the holiday. Admission is free. Three shifts of volunteers are needed: Wednesday, Nov. 27, 5 to 9 p.m., for setup and food preparation; Thursday, Nov. 28, 9 a.m. to noon, for preparing the dinner; and again from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for serving and cleanup. Donations of turkeys, nonperishable food items, cider, eggnog, pies and desserts will be accepted. Also, monetary donations to help with the cost of the meal may be mailed to Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean St., Beverly, MA 01915, Attn: Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner. St. Richard’s Church will host a gala to celebrate its 50-year anniversary tonight from 7 to 11 in the church hall at 90 Forest St., Danvers. The event includes a social hour from 7 to 8 p.m., with a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and video screening of the church’s history and anniversary events, followed by dancing with live music by the Horizon Band, desserts, raffles and a silent auction from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person and can be purchased after each Mass or by contacting Anna Bertini at 978-774-5323 or Mary Jalbert at 978-777-0988.

The third annual Run-a-Latke Family Fun 5K and Chanukah party takes place on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m., 44 Burrill St., Swampscott. There will be children’s programming during the race and a celebration with latkes and doughnuts at the finish line, followed by the lighting of a giant Lego menorah.
