— Looking for something to do today? Here are The Salem News' Best Bets:

Children of all ages can join magician and juggler Robb Preskins for a pirate show at 2 p.m. today. The Friends of the Boxford Town Library will sponsor today's school vacation week event at 10 Elm St., Boxford. The show is free and open to the public. Sign-up at the library, or by calling Joshua Kennnedy at 978-887-7323.

Poets and creative writers are invited to meet fellow wordsmiths and share samples of their work. The program will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Flint Public Library, 1 South Main St., Middleton. Adults and teens are invited. For more information, visit http://www.flintlibrary.org/.

Plans are already under way for Beverly's homecoming festivities in August. The Homecoming Committee will hold a meeting at 7 p.m., at the Beverly Cooperative Bank, 254 Cabot St. The committee is seeking volunteers to assist with fundraising initiatives, events, media and website help.
