Funny people

Swampscott artist Dianne Jenkins will show her people, houses and drawings at an exhibit at the Abbot Public Library in Marblehead this November. Jenkins makes people — life-size to tiny — each with their own weird personality. An opening party will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 235 Pleasant St.

Cooking with chocolate

Harbor Sweets in Salem is hosting a free cooking class on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., led by professional chef Bill Collins. Participants will learn a few recipes that feature the company's signature candy, Sweet Sloops, including pad thai. The class is open to foodies ages 12 and older. Reservations are required. Musical in Hamilton

With a twist on the Little Mermaid tale and set on a Caribbean island with tropically inspired music, "Once On This Island" is a simple yet poignant story of hope. Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School students will perform the one-act musical tomorrow at 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the high school on Route 1A.
