The woods are lovely
The Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary will conduct a two-hour, naturalist-guided Big Woods Hike on Sunday, leaving every 15 minutes between noon and 1:30 p.m. to visit marshes, ponds and an old-growth forest. The hike will be followed by a cozy fire, hot drinks, homemade soup and desserts for purchase. Children must be 5. Cost is $7 for adults, $6 kids; register at 978-887-9264. The sanctuary is at 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield.
"The Ugly Duckling" set to music
Based on the tale by Hans Christian Andersen, "Honk" will be performed tomorrow through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. by the North Shore Players at Hogan Regional Auditorium, 6 Hathorne Circle, Danvers. Thanksgivings past
Stop by the Parson Capen House in Topsfield on Thanksgiving day from 10 a.m. to noon and return to the 17th century, as the Barrett family greets visitors in period dress. Cider and popcorn will be served while a turkey roasts in the open fireplace. The house is at 1 Howlett St., Topsfield. Admission is free, and donations are accepted. All are invited.
