Grace Bonaiuto, daughter of Joseph and Elaine Bonaiuto, is the captain of the Austin Preparatory School cross country team.

Taylor McMahon placed third at the JUMP National Dance Competition held in New York City this past summer. Minh Do was recently named to the honor roll for the first school quarter at the Williston Northampton School.

Jeff Wignall announced the recent publication of his book "Farebersviller 1944." The book tells the life history of his father, William, a World War II casualty.

Thomas Zellen was recently honored with the Commissioner Service Award for 15 years of dedicated service to the electricity consumers of Peabody and Lynnfield.

Thomas Frontiero and Michael Pagliarulo, students at Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School, were recently awarded the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.

Jillian Giguere was part of a team of six Quinnipiac University students who were recently honored by the American Society of Microbiology for their research project, "Demographics and Epidemiology of Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA Colonization in Healthy Individuals."

Amanda Beucler recently won a bronze medal in the National FFA Agriscience Fair in Indianapolis.

Adin Murray recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a master's degree in painting.

Andrew Muise, son of Bill Martinuk and Tracy Muise, has recently been promoted to private first class. He is currently stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., and he has also been awarded the Army Achievement Medal.

Drew Anderson will be playing Sky Masterson in La Salle University's production of "Guys and Dolls."

Jorgelina Zeoli has recently won a Persistence Award from Beverly Community Access Media and an Inspirational Award from the Alliance for Community Media for her documentary "Over the Mass Grave (God Among Us)," an autobiographical account of the horrors of military violence and living with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Nathan Goldman, son of Iris and Stuart Goldman, served as head usher for Connecticut College's production of "The Tempest."

  • North Shore religion news in brief Clifton Lutheran Church, located at 150 Humphrey St., Marblehead, elected Steven Maio as the new president of the congregation of Clifton Lutheran Church. The election celebration was held at the church's annual congregational meeting on Sunday, Feb. 5. Steven Maio replaces outgoing president Jim Koehn. Maio will serve a three-year term.

  • Pet Connection: How to prevent a lost-pet crisis Tonka, a beloved Jack Russell terrier and member of a Salem family, disappeared on Halloween while his owners were giving out treats and getting their kids into costumes for trick-or-treating.
    The devastated parents called the veterinary practice, Animal Control Officer Donald Famico and the Salem police to see if any lost animals had been turned in. Very little sleep was achieved that night. Mom and dad scoured the neighborhood looking for Tonka and contacted everyone they knew to help them find him. They had no idea if Tonka had been lost or stolen. The next morning, their young children were so enraptured with their Halloween candy they did not notice Tonka was missing, and their wise mother got them off to school calmly without distressing them with the bad news. Then she went back about her search.
