Name: Jay LaLonde
Description: “A quick exit to fill up the gas tank turned into a tourist’s dream. I’m not going say much about the location. If you want beautiful covered bridges and Amish furniture, head west.”
Camera info: Canon 60D Tamron, 17-50 mm, f/11
PHOTO STAFF CRITIQUE
“Very strong visual directional lines are evident in this image. On the left, vertical lines of the trees on the hill point downward into a triangle that is formed by the hill. Then the triangular shape of the hill points toward the carriage on the far right. Shadows from the trees fall across the road pointing to the carriage, as well.
“The roadway aims the viewer’s eye into the photo, but a curve in the road softens the directional push.
“Rule of thirds was evidently the idea of this composition. The photographer positioned the carriage so that it fell in the far right third of the photo.”
