Walk along Broadway, Beverly’s “showplace” 19th-century downtown street, with local historian and author Ed Brown as he leads you on a sunset sidewalk history walk starting at 6 p.m. The walk departs from the corner of Cabot Street and Broadway and travels to 18 former mansions of prominent men and women that still stand on Broadway. The walk is sponsored by the Beverly Historical Society; there is a suggested $5 donation per person to benefit the society (walk is free to children and society members). Salem voters: Take advantage of tonight's candidates forums to help form your opinions befort the Sept. 17 preliminary election. At 6:30 p.m., candidates for Ward 6 councilor will answer audience-submitted questions at the Moose Lodge, 50 Grove St., Salem. George Ahmed will moderate.
