Good causes: A cookout for Gabe

A fundraiser charity cookout will be held at the Winter Island Pavilion, 50 Winter Island Road in Salem, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday to raise money for a service dog for Gabriel, a Salem boy with autism. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 and 12, and free for children 3 and younger. Raffle tickets for big-ticket items cost $3 each or $5 for two. Each adult ticket also includes a door-prize raffle ticket. The event includes hamburgers, hot dogs and frozen yogurt, access to a bounce house, face painting and carnival games. The fundraiser is organized by Paws4Gabe, the Salem chapter of 4 Paws for Ability, a charity organization that helps disabled children obtain a service dog without having to wait on a list. The cookout will be held rain or shine. Visit www.paws4gabe.com for more information.
