Get to Eastern Yacht Club Sailing Committee’s first event of its 2013 Winter Speakers Series, featuring Brad White of North Sails presenting “Preparing Your Boat.” White will discuss the necessary steps that boaters should take (before launching in the spring) in order to maximize their boating season. He’ll cover everything from the tip of the mast to the bottom of the keel. The lecture is free and will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Eastern Yacht Club, located at 47 Foster St., Marblehead. Swampscott High School’s boys varsity ice hockey team will play Marblehead at 7 p.m., in Salem State University’s O’Keefe Center, located at 225 Canal St., Salem. Meanwhile, the Marblehead and Beverly girls varsity teams will battle it out, starting at 8 p.m., at the Talbot Rink, located at the O’Maley Middle School, 32 Cherry St., Gloucester.
