Several North Shore officials, including one who didn't support new Gov. Deval Patrick in the general election, viewed his inauguration with optimism:

* Sheriff Frank Cousins, a Republican, was invited to the inaugural as president of the Massachusetts Sheriffs Association. Although he supported Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey in the election, he was proud to see a fellow black man sworn in as governor.Read this article in full with a
