Local Montessori leaders gear up for centenary

BEVERLY - As the city gears up for its New Year's festivities, local Montessori leaders are looking forward to another jubilee - the centenary celebration of the founding of the Montessori movement.
On Jan. 6, 1907, Dr. Maria Montessori opened the first Montessori school in San Lorenzo, Italy, where she pioneered a method of education that focuses on child individuality and peer-learning.
