SALEM — The 3-year-old girl whose throat was slashed last month, allegedly by her own mother, has been released from the hospital.
Erica Goodwin is in the care of her father, according to Wayne Cox, a relative.
Her 8-year-old brother, Jamaal Goodwin, remains in Children's Hospital Boston. He suffered a more severe throat wound, according to police. The boy is a first-grader at Witchcraft Heights Elementary School.
The children's mother, Tanicia Goodwin, 25, faces several charges, including armed assault with intent to murder. She is accused of slashing her children's throats and setting their Pope Street apartment on fire during the March 18 incident.
Salem firefighters found the boy inside the apartment, along with three containers of charcoal lighter fluid. His sister was found in another apartment at the Salem Heights apartment building.
Both children had lighter fluid on their bodies, according to police.
Tanicia Goodwin, who is being held pending trial, is due back in Salem District Court on May 3.
