Police corral runaway cows

PEABODY — Peabody Police got a taste of the old West yesterday morning when they were asked to herd some runaway cows.

Right around 5 a.m., the cows got out of a fenced area at Dunajski Dairy on Buxton Lane, a hilly area overlooking downtown Peabody.

Officers were "attempting to corral multiple cows with the assistance of a few farmhands," according to a police report.

Police were able to get all but two cows back inside the fence, the report said.

Employees of the dairy were on the scene and quickly had the situation under control, police said.

The dairy has been in operation for nearly 100 years.
