Parking free in Salem next weekend

SALEM — The city hopes to entice customers to do their holiday shopping locally by offering free parking across the city next weekend.

On-street parking meters, city-owned parking lots and parking garages will be free of charge Nov. 28 through Dec. 1.

“These are some of the busiest shopping days of the year,” said Mayor Kim Driscoll. “Hopefully, by taking this step, we can help inspire more Salem residents to come downtown and discover all the great retail shopping opportunities available at our independent businesses and shops.”
