Thursday

A Canadian woman who parked her car on Blaney Street on Sunday reported to police at 4 p.m. Thursday that she returned to find the rear driver's-side window broken and her Mac laptop and a duffel bag with clothing stolen.

Police were called to the commuter rail parking lot on Bridge Street at 4:30 p.m. on a report of a woman in a red shirt rummaging through a red Jeep with a soft cover. The woman was then reported to have hopped into a blue car. Officers responded and spoke to a woman in a blue Saturn. The woman said she was talking to her ex-boyfriend. Nothing of value was found in the Saturn, but police officers discovered the ex-boyfriend had two warrants and arrested him. Police also investigated two Jeeps in the lot and discovered papers strewn below each of the glove boxes. Officers left notes for the owners. One later told police that $5 in change and a pair of old binoculars was missing. The other said $2 in cash and $1.25 in change had been taken.

Police received a report at 7:04 p.m. of two bicycles stolen from the rack outside the YMCA on Leggs Hill Road. One bicycle was valued at $150 and the other at $170. The bikes were left unlocked.

A $1,000 bicycle was reported stolen at 7:42 p.m. from the commuter rail lot on Bridge Street. The bike was locked with a Kryptonite cable, which was also reported stolen.

An officer on patrol at 8:35 p.m. spotted a parked car with a broken windshield in a lot on Tremont and Mason streets. The car doors were locked. The officer left a note asking the car owner to call police.

An officer on bike patrol at 11:15 p.m. discovered fresh graffiti in three places near Leslie Retreat Walkway.

Police were called to a Boston Street residence at 11:43 p.m. on a report of breaking and entering. A mother and daughter said a man known to them had attempted to come in the window. A warrant was issued for the man's arrest.

Friday

Police received a call at 3:40 p.m. of a driver dumping trash at the vacant Hillcrest Chevy dealership. The caller gave a description of the vehicle as a four-door truck with silver sides. An officer found the driver who admitted to dumping a load of roofing shingles and said times were tough. The officer followed the driver back to the dealership and had the man pick up all the trash. The driver was also told further incidents would result in him being brought to court. The driver told the officer it wouldn't happen again.

Police were called to a Rantoul Street apartment at 6:48 a.m. on a report of a break-in.

Police received a report at 6:14 p.m. of a past break-in to a Common Lane residence.

Friday

Police received a report at 10:28 a.m. of the theft of coin donations from a Cabot Street business.

Keith M. Braveman, 22, of 14 Jills Way, Peabody, was arrested at 2:01 p.m. at Beverly Hospital and charged with assault and battery and assault.

Police received a report at 3:26 p.m. of breaking and entering at a house on Courtney Drive.

Carlos Mendes, 54, of 68 Cabot St., Apt. 5, Beverly, was arrested at 2:08 p.m. on Oakland Street after a traffic stop and charged with driving while unlicensed.

The employee of a Jubiliee Drive business called police at 4 p.m. to report the theft of $3,000 worth of aluminum from the company's back lot.

A Danvers man who left his red 1984 Chevy Camaro running reported it stolen at 6:06 p.m. on Upton Street.

Friday

Emmanuel F. Mena, 28, of 8 Cherry St. Apt. 1R, Salem, was arrested at 1:25 a.m. on Lowell Street and charged with drunken driving.

Antonio C. Assis, 38, of 22 Tracey St., Apt. 1, Peabody, was arrested at the intersection of Andover Street and Buttonwood Lane at 3:21 a.m. and charged with driving while unlicensed.

Police received a report that the windshield of a car parked on Webster Street had been smashed in. The reporting officer also discovered three more cars damaged that were parked at a business next door.

Police received a report at 8:52 p.m. of breaking and entering at a house on North Street.

Friday

A report of shoplifting at the Kohl's at the Liberty Tree Mall was received at 3:49 p.m.

Police received a report of a larceny at 12:43 p.m. from a Paradise Road address.
