DANVERS — The School Committee and selectmen plan to brainstorm with the architect on the estimated $80.1 million Danvers High project Tuesday.
First, the architect and the School Committee will discuss the renovated school's educational program. Then, selectmen will try to figure out how to finance the project, Assistant Town Manager Diane Norris said.
Given an estimated 49.11 percent reimbursement rate from the state, Danvers taxpayers would foot about $45.3 million of the project.
About $75.3 million would pay to fix up or create new high school space, according to the architect, DiNisco Design Partnership. Meanwhile, about $4.8 million would be needed for community space: the Vye Gym, the town maintenance department and the superintendent's office. The state would not reimburse the town $9.3 million in costs associated with site work and community space.
The project still requires approval from the Massachusetts School Building Authority and then Town Meeting.
"The point of the exercise for the School Committee is to meet with the architect and discuss all the issues related to the building project and educational program," Norris said.
That meeting is at 6 p.m.
"The selectmen are meeting at 7:30 in this workshop to talk with the architect and among themselves about the financing," Norris said.
Superintendent Lisa Dana said the School Committee will look at such things as the numbers of classrooms, and how science, art, special education and resource rooms will fit in the new building.
The architect is also looking to create a unified entrance to the high school, given it lacks one, with a central office located on the second floor.
Both the School Committee and selectmen plan to meet with the architect tomorrow at the Senior Center, 25 Stone St., in the Great Room.
The School Committee meeting starts at 6 p.m., and selectmen will meet around 7:30 p.m.
