Shortly before 4 a.m., a man attempted to gain access to his Rantoul Street apartment using a Comcast ladder. He also vandalized his own motor vehicle, shattering the rear driver's-side window to look for a spare house key. The ladder was returned to a Comcast van and the man was eventually able to gain access to his apartment, according to police.

Peabody

Wednesday

Olga Gusmini, 31, of 6 Corinthian Way, Georgetown, was arrested at 6:18 p.m. and charged with shoplifting at Filene's Basement.

Thursday

Roland Biqiku, 47, of 22 Warren St., Apt. 3, was arrested at 3:23 p.m. at his home and charged with domestic assault and battery.

Swampscott

Wednesday

A pedestrian was transported to Salem Hospital with a possible foot injury after being hit by a motor vehicle on Humphrey Street at 3:15 p.m.

The operator of a motor vehicle that went into Kennedy Studios on Humphrey St. at 10:20 p.m. was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. Police declined to release the operator's name last night. The incident is still under investigation. The town's building inspector was called to examine the structure. The Department of Public Works was called to repair damage to a hydrant and street sign.

The Salem police log was not available last night.
