Nothing fishy about going green

IPSWICH — The town's 375th birthday party ramps up this weekend when Ipswich Goes Green takes over the Riverwalk, EBSCO Publishing and the Memorial Green on Sunday afternoon.

No word that Bobby Flay will show up, but organizers have put together an Ultimate Seafood Throwdown between two local chefs.

Chris DeStefano of Christopher's Table and Ray Morley, selectman and proprietor of Ipswich Bed and Breakfast, will match culinary skills in a cook-off, sponsored by the Cape Ann Fresh Catch community-supported fishing and Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance.

Young duffers, and maybe even their parents, can take their hacks on a mini-golf course featuring holes designed by local artists.

Each has a theme of sustainability.

The local building community will be demonstrating progress on the two period homes taking shape on the green, one a 17th-century reproduction, the other a demonstration of 21st-century green building techniques.

A number of local musicians will provide entertainment all afternoon.

It's all free, and events get underway at 1 p.m.
