Teens arrested after car chase

PEABODY — An Amesbury teen is expected in Newburyport District Court tomorrow to answer for allegedly stealing a car Wednesday night and leading state police troopers on a brief chase near Route 1 in Peabody before being caught hiding in a Dumpster.

Corey Bilodeau, 18, and a 17-year-old girl from Haverhill were arraigned in Peabody District Court yesterday on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Bilodeau was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to state police.

The incident began before 9 p.m. Wednesday when state police in Danvers received an alert from the Newbury barracks to be on the lookout for a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser reported stolen earlier that evening. Soon after, the car was spotted by a good Samaritan pulling into the Gaeta service station off Route 1 in Peabody. The witness then saw the couple flee from the PT Cruiser in the direction of Spinelli’s restaurant.

State troopers established a perimeter in the immediate area of the service station and the restaurant and began searching the area. The suspects were quickly spotted inside a Dumpster behind the Italian eatery.

Both Bilodeau and his female companion were transported to the Danvers state police barracks, where they were booked, charged and held pending bail.
