Trick-or-treat hours

It’s almost the bewitching hour for young ghosts, princesses and superheroes.

Halloween trick-or-treaters will haunt the North Shore on Wednesday evening.

Police departments set trick-or-treat hours for their local communities, and children should head out only during those hours. Residents who welcome trick-or-treaters should leave on a porch light or outside light.

Following are the trick-or-treat times for Halloween night:

Salem: 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Beverly: 5 to 8 p.m.

Boxford: 5 to 8 p.m.

Danvers: 6 to 8 p.m.

UPDATE: Hamilton: 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3

Ipswich: sundown to 9 p.m.

Marblehead: no set time

Middleton: 5 to 8 p.m.

Peabody: no set time

Swampscott: 4 to 8:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Topsfield: 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3

UPDATE: Wenham: 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3
