Police: Men with knives invade Peabody home

PEABODY — Police say two men armed with knives burst into an apartment on Tracey Street on Wednesday evening and robbed three men of cash and tools.

Lt. Arthur Yeo said the two suspects — one of whom donned a ski mask — entered the apartment at 17 Tracey St. through an unlocked door and immediately told the three men they found inside to get on the floor. Both showed knives.

“They said they were hired by a girl who paid them to do this because one (of the victims) had beaten up a girl,” Yeo said. “The victims claimed they never did that and they had the wrong apartment.”

Undeterred, the robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the men, as well as two saws and some other tools. It was unclear whether they fled on foot or in a motor vehicle.

One of the suspects was described as a man in his 20s, about 5-foot-6, 250 pounds, with a dirty blond beard. He was wearing a blue hat, a brown long-sleeved shirt, windbreaker-type pants, and blue and white sneakers. He showed an open buck knife.

The other suspect was about 5-foot-10 and was wearing a ski mask, a silver necklace, a long-sleeved black shirt with “tribal” writing on the sleeves and front, windbreaker-type pants, and blue and white sneakers. He had a 10-inch hunting knife.

The victims did not appear to know the perpetrators, Yeo said.

No injuries were reported.
