Police found no activity near the Highland Avenue Wal-Mart after receiving a report of a large fight. A witness reported individuals skedaddling for Lynn prior to the arrival of police.

A woman reported it, but police judged that the case of a child getting spanked by a flip-flop was likely justifiable discipline at the Highland Avenue Wal-Mart. The witness told officers that a man smacked the 3- or 4-year-old girl on the bottom and slapped her wrist after the youngster ran into the parking lot as her family left the store.

Pedro L. Soto, 25, 73A Memorial Park Ave., Lynn, was arrested, as logged at 6:10 p.m., at Essex and Forrester streets by Patrolman Gilbert Priddy on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Desiree Diana Lucius, 29, no address, was arrested, as logged at 6:29 p.m., on Lafayette Street on charges of domestic assault and battery and resisting arrest. Participating in the arrest were patrolmen Rafael Gonzalez, Sean Andrus and Dennis Luti.

After a mom reported at 7:33 p.m. that her daughter had been hit with a chocolate milk carton by a young man at the Mansell Park skate park at Gallows Hill, police observed a 2-inch bruise above the girl’s eye. The assailant, however, could not be identified.

A lost purse on Highland Avenue got that way when the owner left it on the roof of her car and drove away from the Market Basket, according to the log at 9:12 p.m. “Somewhere in her travels the purse fell off the roof,” police noted.

Willmi Espinal, 25, 20 Summit St., Salem, was arrested, as logged at 10:21 p.m., at Rainbow Terrace on a charge of domestic assault and battery. Making the arrest were patrolmen Rafael Gonzalez, Sean Andrus and Detective J. Dennis Gaudet.

A man told police at 11:03 p.m. that he was cleaned out of nearly $1,000 in cash, a credit card, cellphone, ring and his Texas ID after he put his wallet down in a Lafayette Street laundromat and then went outside. When he returned, the wallet was gone.
