Golfers yesterday kept putting and chipping at the Meadow at Peabody golf course, ignoring clouds of white smoke from the blazing acres of woods around them.
But by 3 p.m., the Fire Department shut down the course as they continued tangling with the brush fire, which began Tuesday night and flared up again yesterday afternoon in pockets around the course.
