Weight-loss success may not ensure win for local 'Loser'

MARBLEHEAD - In this week's episode of "The Biggest Loser," Marblehead's Neil Tejwani discovered he'd be facing better odds of a victory - one in four - but will face unified contestants on his own.

With the elimination of Nicole, his old friend from the Blue Team, Tejwani is alone against four members of the old Black Team.

Emotionally, it's getting tougher. "Saying goodbye to Nicole and being the last Blue Team member, it's not easy. You get really close to people." They'd worked out and eaten together for months. "It's a pretty emotional time. Everyone's trying to fight and claw to get to the end."

How did you lose so much weight again? "I copped another 10-pound week at this late stage of the game. I don't know how, but it's good to get back on track." He's broken Eric's weight loss record on campus from last year, and Eric won the show last year. "It was a really humbling experience for me. I know I've really come a long way since the start of the show. ... Nicole had worked just as hard as I did that week, and only lost 1 pound on the scale." Sometimes a change in exercise routines, even the time of day, can jolt bodies into more weight loss. "I really am kind of baffled by it myself."

Are you hoping to see some of your Blue Team members again? "I think the one thing I'm looking forward to in the finale is being able to see those close people. ... We went through so much together. The grind, the monotony every day. You get really close to these people. ... I can honestly say there's people in the show I'm closer to than people I've known my entire life."

Nicole was first to lose this week's challenge, and you were second. Your trainer, Bob, said, "For goodness' sakes, people, one of them better win this show because God knows they're not going to win a challenge." "Unfortunately, that was not my forte. I worked so hard at that single challenge," which involved quickly jumping, hitting a ball, bouncing back down and doing it all over again. On the second round, Tejwani lost by a single hit in the three-minute period. "You never want to go out like that."
