Thursday

r Todd Ferrante, 30, of 19 Bradford Road, Peabody, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after police responded to a call on Holly Gate Circle.

Beverly

Thursday

r A Lothrop Street resident reported at 4:21 p.m. that checks had been forged.

r More fraudulent checks were reported by a Bartlett Street resident at 7:32 p.m.

r Someone broke into a van parked on Essex Street before 7:50 p.m.

r Ambulance crews, firefighters and police rushed to Essex Street after a child was hit in the head by a line drive at 8:53 p.m. The child's condition was not listed in police logs.

r A woman tried to retrieve two cars she'd bought for an ex-boyfriend on Beckworth Street at 9:32 p.m. Only one of the vehicles would start, and police told her she'd have to turn to civil court for the money owed to her.

Friday

r Edmund A. Greene, 39, of 9 Quincy Park Drive, Beverly, was arrested at 6:48 a.m. and charged with assault and battery after an incident on Cabot Street.

Salem

Thursday

r A man trying to lease an apartment on craigslist said he got a fake check for $6,700, which was supposed to cover first and last months' rent, with the remaining $4,800 being sent to a decorator.

r A woman got a bill for $880.65 from her bank, which tipped her off that someone else was using her bank account.

r A Salem man was told at 5:14 p.m. that police would make extra checks of his property after hearing that a former co-worker had threatened to kill him at a Wilmington job. A Salem officer also paired up with a Peabody officer to tell the alleged threatener in that city to stay away from the Salem man.

Friday

r Daniel B. Stone Jr., 25, of 41 Wilson Road, Salem, was arrested at and charged with trespassing at 8:44 a.m. after he was found sleeping in a bedroom on Rainbow Terrace. He'd been served a no-trespass order on Thursday afternoon after allegedly assaulting an employee at the complex. Another person found sleeping on a couch was arrested for a warrant for cocaine distribution.

r Four locks were damaged at a construction area at the former Salem News building overnight. Union carpenters are picketing the site, which has police details during construction hours.

r A Salem man said at 11:40 a.m. that he'd gotten a fraudulent $1,999 check in the mail at 11:40 a.m. from Washington state, apparently part of a bungled scam involving an amplifier he was selling on eBay.

r A Salem woman said at 12:56 p.m. that a man she doesn't know keeps following her. The man began showing up to her roller derby games in Wilmington. Then he showed up at her job site in January and gave her a card and a music CD. In February, he somehow found her e-mail address and sent her a Valentine's Day message. In March, he showed up at another roller derby game in Wilmington, where the woman had security officers escort him away. She'd been asking him to leave her alone, and he promised he would. Two days ago, flowers arrived anonymously, but the woman said the flower company told her they'd come from the man. Police left a message advising him to leave her alone.

r At 1:54 p.m., a man got unruly in a Congress Street medical office when staff refused to refill his prescriptions for Percocet, morphine and Valium. Police arrested the man after discovering he was wanted on an outstanding warrant, then issued a no-trespass order for him at the business.

Peabody

Thursday

r Aristedes Krisko, 17, of 12 Wheatland St., Peabody, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. and charged with possession of a Class A drug and being a minor in possession of alcohol after police answered Northshore Mall security officers' request for help with a person screaming in the parking lot.

r A woman called police at 9:55 p.m. because her 14-year-old son was out of control, coming home late and not doing his homework.

Friday

r Blake Upham, 23, of 5 Esquire Circle, Peabody, was arrested at 2:44 a.m. and charged with possession of a Class D drug and a red light violation after an incident on Andover Street.

r Firefighters were called to a mulch fire on a Summit Street traffic island at 6:01 a.m. Just an hour later, they responded to a barrel fire on Main Street.

r Firefighters went to a small fire in a third-floor bathroom at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School at 11:23 a.m. The fire extinguished itself before firefighters arrived.

r A Pulaski Street resident said she'd left her back door unlocked. Someone used the opportunity to steal $250 worth of wiring and two laptop computers valued at $1,000 each.

r At 5:25 p.m., a man stole $1,200 worth of Coach bags by grabbing the locked display case they were in at Macy's in the Northshore Mall.

r Tanya Maria DiFraia, 17, of 5 Whitney Road, Boxford, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. and charged with shoplifting after an incident at J.C. Penney.

r Peter Gillis, 56, of 23 River St., Salem, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Main Street.

Danvers

Friday

r A theft was reported at 1:57 p.m. from Danversport Yacht Club, just 12 minutes before a theft was reported from Riverview Marina.
