Brothers Restaurant closes after 35 years

BEVERLY — Brothers Restaurant and Deli on Rantoul Street has closed.

The restaurant had been run by the Peter and Maria Gomatos for 25 years before they sold it to Beverly resident Jim Garcia in February 2007. Neither Garcia nor Peter Gomatos could be reached for comment.

A sign on the restaurant door says, "Thank you for 25 years of patronage. We are retiring and the restaurant is closed."

The Brothers Pub next to the restaurant was still open this week but will close soon, according to a bartender who declined to give her name.

The CVS plaza where Brothers was located is owned by Richard Meguerditchian of Arlington. Meguerditchian declined to comment on the closing of Brothers or the future of the plaza.

"I have a confidentiality agreement until everything is finalized," he said.
