Fraud suspect now subject of warrant

SALEM — A former Peabody man charged with insurance fraud and forgery now has the law on his trail.

A Salem Superior Court judge issued a warrant yesterday for Tyler Parrish after he failed to show up for his arraignment yesterday.

Parrish had someone contact the attorney general's office recently to report that he was currently a patient at an upscale Utah rehabilitation center.

But prosecutor Michael Walsh told a judge that he does not believe Parrish is at that facility.

For one thing, the letterhead of the actual Cirque Lodge in Sundance, Utah, didn't match the letter sent by Parrish.

And the postmark on the letter indicated that it was mailed from St. Petersburg, Fla., Walsh pointed out.

Judge David Lowy did not hesitate in granting Walsh's request for a warrant.

Parrish, 31, is facing a string of larceny, insurance fraud, forgery and false crime report charges after a string of alleged schemes, including claiming damage from an accident just an hour after upgrading his insurance policy, then adding a claim of vandalism that might have the car "totaled."

He also filed a claim for a diamond engagement ring he claims was stolen while he was on his way to a dinner in Salem, bolstering his claim with an allegedly phony Salem police report, and made two claims to banks that his ATM card had been stolen.
