By Tom Dalton

SALEM — The 29th annual Christmas in Salem house tour will be held this weekend, Dec. 5 to 7.

Sponsored by Historic Salem Inc., the "Three Centuries of Architecture" tour features 11 homes and properties that range from the 17th to 19th centuries.

The featured properties, which are decorated for the holidays, are all in the McIntire Historic District. They include the Stephen Phillips Memorial Trust House, 34 Chestnut St., which is the only house on Chestnut Street not built at its present location. Part of the house was moved here from Peabody in 1824.

Also on the tour are the Salem Witch House, 3101รขÑ2 Essex St., a First Period house that was the home of Witch Trials Judge Jonathan Corwin, and private homes on Flint Street and Botts Court.

There is a candlelight tour of three selected homes on Friday night. Tickets must be purchased by tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Hamilton Hall, 9 Chestnut St., will serve as the unofficial headquarters of the tour. It will host lectures, decorating and musical presentations and also has restrooms and refreshments. Tickets are available here on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on tour days. For tickets or information, visit historic salem.org or call 978-745-0799.
