BEVERLY — The Beverly Senior Center is offering two programs this month to solve your holiday movie needs, as well as your holiday mailing needs.
On Dec. 15, seniors are invited to watch "The Polar Express" in the 25-seat movie theater down the street at the Montserrat condominiums. Senior Center Director Mary Ann Holak said the condominium association approved the arrangement and trained Senior Center staff members on how to operate the theater, which includes stadium seating, a 10-by-12-foot screen and a popcorn maker.
The condos are at 40 Heather St., a short walk from the Senior Center. The Dec. 15 show runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and will be followed by a short discussion about the movie led by Elaine Heredeen of the Senior Center. There is no charge for the movie or the refreshments.
As for mailing, two representatives from the Beverly post office will be at the Senior Center on the next three Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to take small packages of up to 10 pounds, as well as to sell stamps and process passports.
The program is intended for seniors, but nobody will be turned away, Holak said.
