Tierney, Hudak to debate

BEVERLY — The first and only public debate between 6th District Congressman John Tierney, D-Salem, and Republican challenger Bill Hudak of Boxford will take place tonight at 7:30 at the Memorial Building (former Memorial Middle School), 502 Cabot St., Beverly.

The debate is sponsored by The Salem News and The Jewish Journal. Questions will be posed to the candidates by representatives of the two newspapers.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and audience members should be in their seats no later than 7:20. No political signs will be allowed inside the building.

Parking at the Memorial Building is extremely limited, but there is plenty of parking within a few minutes' walk in the lot at the rear of Beverly High School. It can be accessed either from Sohier Road or Kittredge Street (next to the Dairy Queen) off Cabot Street.

There is no parking allowed on Cabot Street, which is a state highway (Route 1A).
