Motorcyclist dies in Beverly crash

BEVERLY — A 24-year-old motorcyclist driving along Sohier Road was killed yesterday afternoon after going off the road and striking a telephone pole.

The accident happened near the intersection of Tozer Road at 1:14 p.m., according to police.

Police would not release the name of the victim last night and would only say that he was from the North Shore.

The motorcyclist was the only person involved in the crash, police said.

It appears that the man struck a curb, then left the road and hit the pole, police said. They would not say if the man was pronounced dead at the scene or at a hospital.

No other details were available as of press time last night.
