Homebuying 101, a three-part course, will be held Tuesday, March 4, through Thursday, March 6, from 5:45 to 9 p.m., at Peabody Municipal Light Plant, 201 Warrant St. Ext., Peabody. The course, sponsored by North Shore CDC, takes residents through the entire home-buying process. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate that gives them access to first-time homebuyer loans with low interest rates and down payments. The cost is $50 per person. Mayor Mike Cahill is accepting letters of request from organizations interested in being selected for one of the four 2014 charitable golf tournaments dates at Beverly Golf and Tennis Club, made available through the city of Beverly to benefit Beverly citizens. Over the past 10 years, more than 25 organizations have benefited from these charitable golf dates. Any organization interested in applying may do so by forwarding a request in writing to the Mayor’s Office, 191 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915, or by email to mayorcahill@beverlyrna.gov. Letters of request must be received no later than Tuesday, Feb. 18, to be considered for selection.

Peabody Rotary presents its 10th annual Taste of the North Shore on Tuesday, March 11, at Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. The event features more than 20 local restaurants serving a sample of their food specialities, entertainment, a drawing for a $10,000 grand prize, silent auction and more. Raffle tickets cost $100 each and include admission for two; only 300 tickets will be sold. The event is Peabody Rotary’s primary annual fundraiser and benefits the club’s community projects and initiatives.
