Board grants Alternative Therapies permit for medical pot dispensary

SALEM — Salem’s Zoning Board of Appeals granted Alternative Therapies Group a special permit to operate a medical marijuana dispensary at 50 Grove St. at its meeting last night. The board will work with the city’s planning department and solicitor to work out conditions for the permit. Although Alternative Therapies has already been licensed by the state, it needed approval from the board because dispensaries are considered medical clinics under city law.
