Police were called to 25 Pickett St. for a drunken man in the driveway at 1:43 a.m. “Party was sleeping in the driveway bushes,” and police gave him a ride home in the care of his girlfriend, according to the log item.
A broken car window at 36 Lothrop St. was reported to police at 9:37 a.m. “Driver’s-side front window had damage from what appeared to be a window punch ... the landlord, possibly involved,” according to the log item.
Police were called to 63 Kernwood Ave. for a “fight in street” at 11:59 p.m.
John Viera, 52, of Saugus was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by asportation from Stop & Shop, 301 Newbury St., according to a 6:08 p.m. log item.
A break-in to a motor vehicle parked at TGI Fridays, 49 Newbury St., was reported at 7:50 p.m.
A car break was reported at Village Green, 225 Newbury St., at 10:13 p.m., in which a wallet was stolen. Another break-in was reported at 10:45 p.m.
A watch was reported stolen in a car break at 49 Newbury St., according to a 10:24 p.m. log item.
The police and fire departments responded to Tioga Way at 8:52 a.m. on a report that a motor vehicle “crashed into the fitness center and went through the window.” No injuries were reported. Papers were exchanged, according to the log item.
Police responded to Green Street at 4:58 a.m. on a report that a woman thought there might be a trapped animal in the home after being awakened by a “moaning noise and then a crash.” Officers checked the house, and it appeared “to be an animal stuck in the wall; she’s been advised to contact an exterminator,” according to the log.
Amy E. Burnett, 29, 67 Goodale St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of possessing a class A drug after being pulled over on Foster Street.
Justin G. Burt, 26, 67 Pulaski St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of property damage at the intersection of Andover and Cross streets at 2:58 a.m. Police reported a light post was hit.
Police responded to the East India Square parking garage on a report of a “party hit with snowball” from youths on the roof of the garage at 4:44 p.m. No pedestrians were struck. Two teenage boys admitted throwing a snowball from the roof. They were advised “not to throw snowballs to prevent any injuries to the pedestrians and to prevent any possible criminal charges,” according to the log item.
At 6:07 p.m., a Chestnut Street resident reported an “unknown person” took a copper downspout from the front corner of her home. The pipes are valued at $300. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time, according to the log item.
Moises Lopez-Chavez, 47, of Lynn was arrested on a charge of operating without being licensed after police were called to Traders Way for a male and female arguing, according to a 10:27 p.m. log item.
Kayla A. DeFilippo, 23, and Carlos A. Escobar, 22, both of 19 Hazel St., Salem, were arrested on charges of disturbing the peace when police were called to the residence on a report of a “loud party at 1:01 a.m. About 50 people were cleared out of the cellar, according to the log item.
A Department of Public Works vehicle was reported stuck in a sinkhole at the intersection of Chandler Road and Lillian Road at 9:42 a.m.
Robert B. Bocage, 35, 70 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery (two counts), assault and battery by dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness and larceny over $250 at 12 First St., according to a 1:17 p.m. log item. Bocage pushed his girlfriend to the ground and kicked her when she got up to call police and ripped the phone off the wall, police said. About a month ago, he burned her left shoulder with a hot spoon he was using to cook, police said.
Police were dispatched to Congress Street at 11:17 p.m. for a male party rapping down the street. The man stated “he was walking home to Lafayette Street and was singing on his way,” according to the log item. Police advised him to “keep it down and to stay on the sidewalk.”
Richard Coombs, 31, 7 Harmony St., Salem, was arrested on charges of drunken driving and operating to endanger after crashing into a parked car on Buffum Street at 11:41 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
Jocelyn E. Smolinsky, 19, of Waltham was arrested by Salem State University police for possession of class D substance with intent to distribute and minor transporting liquor, according to a 2:10 a.m. log item.
Officers were called to 15 Duke St. at 3:08 p.m. on a report that “a resident put stray dog in yard.” The animal control officer was notified and will retrieve the dog, according to the log item.
A tractor trailer was stopped at the intersection of Paradise and Walker road at 1:49 p.m. for running a red light, and the driver, Juan Maldonado, 38, of Lynn was subsequently arrested on charges of operating with a suspended license and failing to stop/yield. The owners of the trucking company were issued a civil citation for allowing an employee to drive with a suspended license, according to the log item.
