---- — BEVERLY — Police arrested two Revere men on drug charges Thursday night after an officer on patrol approached their vehicle for blocking a fire hydrant, police said.
Alejandro Londono-Valencia, 28, and Jhonatan Puerta-Yepes, 24, both residents of 134 Proctor Ave. in Revere, were each charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine at 7:42 p.m. in front of 9 Porter St.
According to a statement from Beverly police spokesman officer Mike Boccuzzi, officer Thomas Nolan was on routine patrol when he observed a gray Nissan parked on Porter Street blocking a fire hydrant.
While Nolan was speaking to the men, Londono-Valencia attempted to get rid of a small, clear plastic baggy, which contained a white substance believed to be cocaine, the statement said.
Also recovered at the scene were four cellphones and about $1,130 in cash, police said.
Boccuzzi said both men were arraigned in Salem District Court yesterday.
