SALEM — A midday power outage affected 1,700 National Grid customers, including the District Court building.
A problem with an underground power cable knocked out power to a large chunk of downtown Salem around 11:45 a.m., including North, Bridge, Washington, Essex and Endicott streets, said David Graves, National Grid spokesperson.
Crews worked on the underground cable along Bridge and Washington streets and restored downtown electricity service over the course of the afternoon, Graves said.
