Small fire put out in Beverly

BEVERLY — Firefighters extinguished a fire that started in an oven at 23 Hilltop Drive yesterday.

Deputy Chief Michael Acciavatti said the fire caused a considerable amount of smoke but created little damage.

The residents who were home at the time were not hurt, he said.

The duplex apartment building is owned by the Beverly Housing Authority and located off Sohier Road. Beverly Housing Authority Executive Director Kevin Ascolillo said repairs were made to the unit and the residents were not displaced.
