Salem man indicted on child porn charges

BEVERLY — A Salem man who worked for the Harvard University library system was indicted Monday on child pornography charges.

Jack Maniscalco, 43, of 12 Barton Square, was originally charged last year, following an investigation by Beverly police that started when his estranged wife went to them in 2011.

The woman told officers she had discovered child pornography on Maniscalco’s custom-built computer, which had three hard drives, police said. Maniscalco allegedly told his wife that the images may have been inadvertently downloaded with other legal pornography involving adults.

Maniscalco pleaded not guilty at his original district court arraignment last year. He now faces a re-arraignment on six counts of possessing child pornography within the next several weeks in Salem Superior Court.
