---- — SALEM — Police say a local firefighter is again facing criminal charges after an altercation with his wife late Wednesday night.

Aaron Jeremy Bingham, 31, of 22 Barnes Circle, Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony, larceny of property over $250 and domestic assault.

The incident began about 1:15 a.m., when police were dispatched to Bingham’s wife’s new residence at 72 Orne St. — the two are separated — after a report of a break-in during a domestic dispute, according to the incident log and an interview with Lt. Matthew Desmond.

The woman told police that Bingahm had entered her residence through an open door and taken her cellphone, Desmond said.

Bingham was charged with domestic assault because he had placed his wife into fear during the altercation, Desmond said, adding that there were no allegations of physical abuse.

Officers found Bingham on Highland Avenue and took him into custody without incident.

Bingham previously faced charges of domestic assault and battery after an incident involving his wife a year ago, nearly to the day, according to a previous story in The Salem News. Police said he had shoved his wife and thrown a glass of wine at her during an altercation at their Barnes Circle home.

Bingham was one of four Afghanistan or Iraq war veterans to be sworn in as firefighters in 2008.
