---- — PEABODY — Police say a woman showed a handgun while trying to rob the Tedeschi market at 115 Main St. about 7 p.m. last night.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described in radio reports as being black and clad in all black, with a ski mask over her face and “presumably long hair, but it was pulled back.” She was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and in her 20s, with a thin build.
Lt. Arthur Yeo said the robbery wasn’t successful, as the suspect “realized there were other people in the store” and fled.
Police believed she might have gotten into a small green car shortly afterward. Salem police later pulled over a vehicle matching that description in the vicinity of Marlborough Road and Highland Avenue, but nobody inside it matched the suspect’s description.
According to a later radio report, police had tentatively identified the vehicle involved as a green 2005 Hyundai belonging to a 25-year-old Lynn woman who could be a suspect in the robbery.
That woman might also have been behind robberies in Belmont and Lynn, police said. Police are investigating.
