---- — SALEM — The city is throwing a New Year’s Eve party.
The free family event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Old Town Hall and Derby Square. It features local bands, including The Dejas, Qwill and the OnPoint Ensemble, and crafts for children.
There’s even an early countdown and a balloon drop at 7 p.m.
“This will be the first time in recent memory that the city has held a New Year’s Eve event,” Main Streets manager Kylie Sullivan said in a press release. “We’re calling this year’s event ‘LAUNCH’ because we hope it will be the start of an annual tradition.”
The New Year’s Eve party is sponsored by the city and Salem Main Streets.
