Winfrey's treats sweeten the celebration

---- — BEVERLY — Everyone loves chocolate, no matter what time of year it is.

But when the candies in question are chocolate lollipops from Winfrey’s Fudge and Chocolates, and proceeds from their sale helps to fund Beverly’s New Year, they are tasty, indeed.

“Half of the proceeds are going to Beverly’s New Year, whatever we end up selling,” said Jillian Winfrey. “It’s a dollar a pop.”

Winfrey’s makes an enormous range of fudge and chocolate treats, and the chocolate lollipop seemed perfect for this occasion.

“It’s our snowflake pop,” Winfrey said. “It’s something we use for New Year’s, a general, winter pop, so it can be used throughout the winter, as opposed to seasonal pops like witch pops or turkey pops. They’re really popular.”

Winfrey’s is headquartered in Rowley and also has stores in Stoneham, Hamilton, Wenham and Newburyport.

They moved into a new location at 115 Cabot St. in Beverly in April, and only pops sold at this location will contribute to the New Year’s celebration.

“Beverly has been a great town to be in, very welcoming, and with lot of events going on,” Winfrey said. “We want to be included.”
