A downed wire reported on Boyles Street at 9 p.m. brought National Grid to the scene in about 15 minutes, according to the log.
Police suspected a party after a report came in at 11:03 p.m. of loud music on Courtney Drive. It turned out to be a one-person party, however. “Female listening to music loudly by herself,” report stated.
Carlos Raphael Ortiz, 31, 461 Rantoul St., Beverly, was arrested, as logged at 11:48 p.m., by Detective Dana Nicholson and Patrolman Charles Twombly on a charge of domestic assault and battery. Officers responded to a report of a “roommate struck in face.” An ambulance was called.
A report at 12:31 a.m. of “three white males possibly drunk” drew police to Elliot Street.
Samuel Burns, 21, Larch Row, Wenham, was arrested, as logged at 1:22 a.m., by state police Trooper Michael Callahan on the ramp from Route 128 to Route 1A north, on charges of drunken driving and marked lane violations. Police say Burns’ vehicle slid off the road and into a Department of Transportation sign.
An accident at Cabot Street on the Wenham Line saw a vehicle go off the road and down an embankment, as logged at 6:42 a.m. The driver was taken to Beverly Hospital with wrist pain. An icy road is blamed for the accident. Police notified the Department of Public Works of the problem. They later reported someone falling on the ice at Wentzell Avenue and a car striking a telephone pole at Cabot and Simon streets. National Grid was called to replace the pole. A car was reported going “into the woods” on Cabot Street at 8:04 a.m.
A broken window on Cabot Street at 12:36 p.m. was logged as “vandalism.”
Wesley Ladd Chandler, 23, 27 West Dane St., Beverly, was arrested, as logged at 1:36 p.m., by officers Mark Panjwani and April Clarizia on a charge of driving without a license. This followed a stop on Cabot Street.
