HAMILTON-WENHAM — A search committee has named four finalists for the schools superintendent position in Hamilton-Wenham.
Interviews are being scheduled with Susan Givens, chief financial officer for the Masconomet Regional School District; William Hart, assistant superintendent of the Pentucket Regional Schools; Michael Harvey, principal of Belmont High School; and Julia Phelps, associate commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's center for curriculum and instruction.
The four finalists were selected from a pool of 33 applicants.
The School Committee will meet tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the interview process at the district's central office, 5 School St., Wenham.
The committee hopes to have a new superintendent in place for the start of the 2012-13 school year. Finalist interviews will be scheduled for late April, and a vote to hire a new superintendent is expected in the first week of May.
"I would like to thank the members of the superintendent search committee for the many hours they devoted to reviewing applications, interviewing candidates and deliberating during the preliminary selection process," said School Committee member Kym Donnellan, also a member of the search committee, in an email announcing the finalists. "The conversations were lively, insightful and courteous."
Peter Gray, who was hired in 2010 as assistant superintendent in Hamilton-Wenham, stepped into the role of interim superintendent after the abrupt departure of Raleigh Buchanan last spring.
The proposed school budget for next fiscal year lists a superintendent salary of $171,700.
