Mustering up some fun

MARBLEHEAD — Twelve antique handtubs from throughout New England competed Saturday in an old-fashioned firemen's muster — a competition to see which team can hand-pump a stream of water the farthest. The event began with a parade from Pleasant Street to Reynolds Field, where the teams competed.

The Oko's of Marblehead won the Class A competition with a score of 190 feet, 2 inches. Hancock No. 128 of Ashburnham captured Class B (160 feet, 111/4 inches). Gerry No. 5 of Marblehead (158 feet, 53/4 inches) and Atlantic No. 1 of Swampscott (136 feet, 13/4 inches) finished second and third, respectively in Class B.
